SJ Townend lives in Bristol with her two children and their two cats. She writes dark, speculative fiction and also runs Bag of Bones, a charitable indie press.

Her debut dark fiction collection 'Sick Girl Screams' (Brigids Bate Press) was published in October 2024. 

In 2025, Sley House Press will be publishing SJ's 2nd horror collection, 'Your Final Sunset'.
